Mark Weber (@markrweber) is an applied research scientist at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, an academic-industry partnership for the responsible advancement of artificial intelligence. Mark’s current work involves deep learning for anti-money laundering (AML) and b_verify, an open-source blockchain protocol for agricultural finance developed at the MIT Media Lab. Prior to MIT, Mark produced documentaries on poverty and development, including the critically acclaimed film, Poverty, Inc. Classically trained with a focus on finance, economics, and systems thinking, Mark’s expertise is connecting dots across disciplines to bridge academic research with real-world applications.
